ACADEMIC EVENTS Brief report on the Symposium organized by Thailand Chapter of the International Society of Tropical Pediatrics (TCISTP) at JITMM 2009 on December 04, 2009 at 13.30 – 15.00 h.
Thailand Chapter of the International Society of Tropical Pediatrics (TCISTP) was successfully organized symposium at the Joint International Tropical Medicine Meeting (JITMM) 2009 during 3-4 December 2009 at Centara Grand& Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, Bangkok, Thailand. On 4th December 2009 : 13.30-15.00 , the symposium entitled “ A Value of Health: Act Now” was moderated by Prof. Usa Thisyakorn, the President, 9 th International Congress of Tropical Pediatrics and President, Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of Thailand. In the beginning, Prof. Lulu Bravo, the President of International Society of Tropical Pediatrics (ISTP), Vice Chancellor for Research and Executive Director of the National Institutes of Health, University of the Philippines, Manila, gave an honour to open the session with “Global situation on pneumococcal disease and its prevention”. Then Prof. Terapong Tantawichien, Assistant Director of Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute (Scientific), Deputy Chairman for Academic Affairs, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University talked about “Pneumococcal vaccine: its essential for adults” and finally Prof. Krisana Pengsaa, the President of TCISTP presented on “Prevention of pneumococcal infection in Thailand”.
