Mahidol Day September 24, 2009
          The representative of the Advisory Board and the Committee of Thailand Chapter of International Society of Tropical Pediatrics laid the wreath at the Statute of HRH Prince Mahidol of Songkla ‘Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health of Thailand’ at Siriraj Hospital. His initiative and effort produced the most remarkable and lasting impact on the improvement of modern medicine and public health in Thailand.

          On Mahidol Day is a very important day for Thailand, when a memorial ceremony is held every year commemorating the death of His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol. The Advisory Board and Committee members of TCISTP paid their respects at the Monument of H.R.H. Prince Mahidol at Siriraj Hospital, on September 24, 2008.

The Auspicious 72nd Birthday of Professor Emeritus Tan Chongsuphajaisiddhi

          On September 15, 2008, in celebration of the auspicious 72nd Birthday of Professor Emeritus Tan Chongsuphajaisiddhi, the Advisory Board of the Thailand Chapter of the International Society of Tropical Pediatrics (TCISTP), and the Department of Tropical Pediatrics, supported by the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, held a special ceremony in which Prof. Tan was offered their sincere respects and gratitude.
Professor Emeritus Tan is former Dean of the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, founder of the Department of Tropical Pediatrics, and was Head of the Department between 1975-1990. He graciously spoke on the topic “A Healthy Life after Retirement”, which was of utmost benefit to both retired persons and all staff wishing to live happily and in good health.
          In the afternoon, he gave us the honor of presiding over the opening ceremony for the new office of the Thailand Chapter of the International Society of Tropical Pediatrics, in the Department of Tropical Pediatrics.
